It was time for lunch and we had circled back to be close to the Romblon Island Port. However, we stopped off at Lugbon Beach to chill under the palm trees.
I hope my travels give you the motivation to set off on an epic adventure of your own. The beach has a beautiful sandbar which shifts with the tides in the southeast. One side of the beach has choppy waters, where seaweed and litter were getting washed up on the shore, but the other has a serene curving coast with very clear water. There’s a Marine Sanctuary nearby, making it a good snorkeling/diving spot, but I didn’t have snorkeling gear with me. It would have been a peaceful spot except for the unsightly tarps and noisy buzz of drilling ongoing. I chatted with some of the locals who said they were being relocated to a different part of the island.

I capped the morning of island-hopping back in town with a late lunch of Garlic Prawns at Cafe Old Sailor Resto Bar. This small German-owned bar serves dishes like Beef Goulash, German Meatloaf, Hungarian Sausage with french fries, Schnitzel, homemade spatzle plus a range of imported beers, cocktails and fruit shakes. The day before, I had ridden to the area where you can park motorcycles just and walk to the beach and sandbar, but it was getting dark, so I didn’t proceed. Seeing it up close in broad daylight with the sun shining down on the water was just amazing. Prices vary but a full-day island-hopping tour to Cobrador, Alad and Logbon Islands can cost P1,500 for 2 people (a small boat) and P2,700-3,000 for 4 to 5 individuals. It was one of those things we had dreaded on a long trip and it happened on the morning we were set to go on an island-hopping tour at Romblon Island. Leo felt a stabbing pain on his lower back on our way out of the Parc Bay Mansion. Fortunately though it wasn’t as bad as we first thought and he was able to manage his condition as we boarded our boat towards the group of three islands lying off the western coast of Romblon Island. And fortunately so because it was a beautiful, sunny day. As a friendly suggestion, should you encounter fellow travelers at the airport who are heading to the same destination, feel free to consider sharing your private transport.
Wifi is not provided as our goal is peace and relaxation of our guests. Our boatmen told us that snorkeling on the beach where we landed is excellent, but having just eaten lunch, we decided to just rest for a while and enjoy the surrounding scenery. We later discovered that the western coast where we landed is home to a variety of soft corals and colorful sponges. On the east coast, the biodiversity is excellent with its magnificent array of corals and other marine life in marine sanctuaries. The resort offers 1 Suite Room, 4 Deluxe Rooms, and 2 Duplex Villa, each with a private veranda that offers stunning views of the sea, Logbon island, and Romblon Town.
